Galle Fort, located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, is a beautifully preserved colonial stronghold that tells the story of centuries past. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1588 and later fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a rare blend of European architecture and South Asian culture.

Wandering through the cobbled streets of Galle Fort feels like stepping back in time. The fort’s sturdy stone ramparts overlook the Indian Ocean, while its interior is filled with charming Dutch-style villas, old churches, museums, art galleries, and quaint cafés. The Lighthouse at the edge of the ramparts offers sweeping views of the coast and is one of the most photographed spots in the area.

Whether you're a history buff, a photographer, or a casual explorer, Galle Fort offers a timeless experience that captures the spirit of Sri Lanka’s rich past and relaxed coastal life.
